Hamas has evolved from an isolated movement with affiliation to the Muslim Brotherhood into a Palestinian national resistance movement that boasts increasing popularity in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. One of the reasons for the rising popularity of Hamas is its military accomplishments and these accomplishments are accompanied and documented by the songs and hymns. National songs and hymns have always been a tool to mobilize the Palestinian people and buttress the principles of liberation and struggle. In the case of Hamas, these songs serve an additional purpose: they inject religious terminology into the folk resistance songs that are modified and edited by Hamas supporters.
