Khalida Jarrar, Member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, has already suffered many years of administrative detention. She’s been incarcerated without trial, no evidence presented against her whatsoever, and her imprisonment is renewed every six months. Her previous detention lasted 20 months, which she completed on February 2019. Come October 2019 and she was arrested again! and has since been detained for her affiliation with the PFLP. She is due for release within three/two months.
Her 30-year-old daughter, Suha, a young researcher at Al-Haq, a Palestinian human rights NGO, has just passed away. Still, Israel refused Khalida the right to see her daughter one last time or attend her funeral.
Let’s let Khalida know that she’s not alone during this ordeal, and that we share her pain and grief. Let’s write to her in prison. Let hundreds, thousands of letters reach her. Even if they’re not delivered to her, she’ll still know… and her jailers will know too. We could also take a picture of our cards and letters and publish them on social media, to show the extent of our solidarity but also to keep a copy of them – so that those letters could still reach her at a later point should the prison authorities prevent their proper delivery.
Let our messages of care and support help her through this moment and bring her a hint of humanity into this sea of injustice and cruelty to which she’s subjected.
Write her at…
