On 27 January, 2015, UNESCO held the Regional Conference for the Arab States on Education Post-2015 in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh. This conference was in preparation for the international conference that will be held by UNESCO in South Korea in May 2015. In the three-day conference that discussed the improvement of the quality of education in the Arab world by 2030, some shocking data was unveiled. The general report prepared by UNESCO about the situation of education in the Arab world mentioned that 20 per cent of Arabs, or 10.5 million, did not complete their elementary education.
