On 23 January, 2015, 17-year-old Sondos Ridha was killed after being shot in her head and chest during an attack by the Egyptian police on a protest organized by the Muslim Brotherhood in Alexandria. Some claimed then that her killing might have been a coincident. A day later, Shaima Sabbagh was killed inan almost identical fashion during an exceedingly peaceful march heldby a leftist party in the heart of Cairo. The presumption of serendipity gave way to the conviction that these killings were intentional. The authorities want to make the statements that they kill without deterrence or provocation and that they kill to control the breath of Egyptians. The current situation in Egypt is worse than anything the country endured in its darkest moments.
On 9 February, at least 22 football fans were killed while trying to enter the Air Defense stadium to watch a football match. They were killed either due to birdshots, tear-gas suffocation or stumbling. The scene of the crime was deliberately prepared as thousands of fans were concentrated in a narrow metal tunnel without justification. The tunnel remained entirely closed even after the killings had commenced, and the fans were insulted and humiliated. Why?
