    According to WikiThawra, an independent statistical database that documents human rights violations in Egypt, 1578 people were arrested in Egypt for allegedly violating the “anti-protestlaw.” The data is provided for the nine months following the enactment of the law until 25 March, 2014. Only 309 of those indicted have been exonerated in 95 provisional trials while 630 were convicted and 219 detainees have not even gone on trial. Following final rulings, 99 defendants were convicted, only four defendants were cleared, and 495 were not transferred to the court. Thus, the conviction rate in cases pertaining to the anti-protest law amounts to 67 per cent.
