“Divide and conquer” is widely perceived as the supreme trademark for the strategy of European settler-colonialism in Asia, Africa and the Middle East, whose traditional structures of hegemony have degenerated midway through the twentieth century.
Presently, one needs not resort to more complex concepts beyond “divide and conquer” in order to understand Israel’s treatment of the Palestinian-Arab people. Ever since its inception within the context of European colonialism, the Zionist movement has employed the same mechanisms and logic, seeking to achieve the same goal.

Palestinians live under different Israeli systems of domination, each group articulating their demands through separate agendas. Yet, Palestinians are increasingly using a common discourse and moving towards one direction, albeit with a minimum degree of unity. There is a consensus among them on rejecting Zionist exceptionalism while focusing on the steadfastness of their inalienable Arab identity and belonging.
Amidst an overwhelmingly bleak Arab and regional reality, and regardless of the different fronts and contexts, Palestine remains the only constant compass leading the people despite the intensifying force and arrogance of the enemy. And this is precisely the good news emerging from Palestine.
